Father Forgets

Father_and_son_by_Gloredel

FATHER FORGETS

W. Livingston Larned condensed as in “Readers Digest”

Listen, son: I am saying this as you lie asleep, one little paw crumpled under your cheekand the blond curls stickily wet on your damp forehead. I have stolen into your room alone. Just a few minutes ago, as I sat reading my paper in the library, a stifling wave of remorse swept over me. Guiltily I came to your bedside.

There are the things I was thinking, son: I had been cross to you. I scolded you as you were dressing for school because you gave your face merely a dab with a towel. I took you to task for not cleaning your shoes. I called out angrily when you threw some of your things on the floor.

At breakfast I found fault, too. You spilled things. You gulped down your food. You put your elbows on the table. You spread butter too thick on your bread. And as you started off to play and I made for my train, you turned and waved a hand and called, “Goodbye ,Daddy!” and I frowned, and said in reply, “Hold your shoulders back!”

Then it began all over again in the late afternoon. As I came up the road I spied you, down on your knees, playing marbles. There were holes in your stockings. I humiliated you before your boyfriends by marching you ahead of me to the house. Stockings were expensive-and if you had to buy them you would be more careful! Imagine that, son, from a father!

Do you remember, later, when I was reading in the library, how you came in timidly, witha sort of hurt look in your eyes? When I glanced up over my paper, impatient at theinterruption, you hesitated at the door. “What is it you want?” I snapped.

You said nothing, but ran across in one tempestuous plunge, and threw your arms  around my neck and kissed me, and your small arms tightened with an affection that God had set blooming in your heart and which even neglect could not wither. And then youwere gone, pattering up the stairs.

Well, son, it was shortly afterwards that my paper slipped from my hands and a terrible sickening fear came over me. What has habit been doing to me? The habit of findingfault, of reprimanding-this was my reward to you for being a boy. It was not that I did notlove you; it was that I expected too much of youth. I was measuring you by the yard stick of my own years.

And there was so much that was good and fine and true in your character. The little heartof you was as big as the dawn itself over the wide hills. This was shown by your spontaneous impulse to rush in and kiss me good night. Nothing else matters tonight, son. I have come to your bedside in the darkness, and I have knelt there, ashamed!

It is feeble atonement; I know you would not understand these things if I told them to you during your waking hours. But tomorrow I will be a real daddy! I will chum with you, and suffer when you suffer, and laugh when you laugh. I will bite my tongue when impatient words come. I will keep saying as if it were a ritual: “He is nothing but a boy-a little boy!”

I am afraid I have visualised you as a man. Yet as I see you now, son, crumpled and weary in your cot, I see that you are still a baby. Yesterday you were in your mother’sarms, your head on her shoulder. I have asked too much, too much, yet given too little ofmyself. Promise me, as I teach you to have the manners of a man, that you will remind me how to have the loving spirit of a child.

When Photography Meets Creativity

About 5 or 6 months ago, I received my first Nikon DSLR camera (D5100), it was big black and beautiful. At the time it was daunting just to hold this piece of technology, let alone use it for its designed purpose. However after many hours of messing around and a few YouTube lessons later, I became a “great-amateur” photographer ready to “shoot” everything. Being the “great-amateur” I thought it would be good only to take the camera out when the stage was set for photography, what I now know in hindsight is that life is always set for photography, all you have to do is look for it. Below are a few of my better shots, I hope you enjoy.

Madonna MDNA 2012

Oh, my God,

I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee

And I detest all my sins,

Because I dread the loss of heaven

And the pains of hell.

But most of all because I love Thee

And I want so badly to be good.

Restoration from the death or simply another catchy album from the queen of pop?

I would say a bit of both, mixed together with a sprinkle of conspiracy from the Free Masons and Illuminati, and presto you arrive at my feelings for this album.

As we all know Madonna is by far the most successful female artist in the world, we might say she is the female Michael Jackson. She has ruled the music world for over 30 years. This may be true however since 2005 a young lady by the name of “Gaga” flooded the market with sex appeal and crazy antics on and off stage taking the CONTROVERSY spotlight off Madonna.

Between the Internet and the tabloids, Lady Gaga has been raining supreme. Although the battle between Madonna and Lady Gaga is not EASILY spotted I do believe it is real and clear that perhaps Lady Gaga was the REPLACEMENT for Madonna.

I thought wrong on the 23rd of March 2012 Madonna and her team announced that “MDNA” her 12th studio album had been released, and that with every CD purchase a tasty little concert ticket would also be RECEIVED to Madonna’s sellout tour. Sneaky TACTICS to climb the BILLBOARD charts or simply seeing the loophole and grabbing the opportunity.

With everyone singing along to “Give me all your lovin'” Madonna was ready to get back into the music game and FINALLY steal the CONTROVERSY spotlight back from Lady Gaga. By week 3 of album sales a mega 87% sales drop was recorded, this send the Twitter idiots and tabloid websites in to HYSTERIA, and although I cant confirm this, but rumor has it Madonna popped a bottle of CHAMPAIGN and pissed all over Lady Gaga’s new album. Why you may ask…? Simply put, that spotlight was back in its rightful place.

Beyond the drama, RUMORS and CONTROVERSY, Madonna has actually created a decent album, catchy pop songs with an undertone of tech beats, help create and album suited for the masses and the never ending die heart fans. Everyone can sing along and enjoy the music. What I like is that Madonna has stayed true to her art form and genre, she has let the tech scene INFLUENCE her, but wasn’t she the one who always set pop culture for the rest of us?

Madonna is back and hopefully will continue to squash Lady and her Gaga under her leather boots. We look forwards to see what else Madonna will do to entertain us, Maybe the Free Masons will have her drink her own blood or join up with Gaga to take over the world… EITHER WAY WE WILL BE WATCHING AND WAITING,
