Pirates of the Caribbean 4 “On Stranger Tides”

Hello Everyone

Last night I was at the drive in again and I watched the 4th installment To the Disney Franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean “On Stranger Tides”.

For all of you Pirate fans, and for all the “Pirates of the Caribbean” fans, we are all in for a treat. Disney has decided to indulge on our love for the Pirates of the Caribbean films and make a 4th film. This 4th film “On Stranger Tides” is no less exciting and interesting than the first three and holds just as much entertainment for the whole family, as expected from the rest of the franchise.

Black-beards Ship

The 4th installment of the series “On Stranger Tides” is a collection of old characters and a set of completely new and interesting ones too. In this adventure we see our favorite pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), on the hunt for the fountain of youth.

Captain Barbossa and Captain Sparrow

At first I was skeptical about Disney creating a 4th film, I was sure that the characters would be tired and the story would barley keep us awake; however I was sorely mistaken. Pirates of the Caribbean “On Stranger Tides” was far from tiered and boring, Disney has brought in a new director (Robert Marshal) and has ensured that the story stay action packed and choc full of magic and mystery.

This fourth edition to the collection brings in a few new and well-known characters such as Angelica Malon, played by Penelope Cruz who seems to be a very possible love interest for our dashing Jack Sparrow. We also see an Ian Mcshane playing the key character of Blackbeard, who has an interesting connection to Jack Sparrow.

Captain Jack Sparrow

Disney has also insured that we see some old faces such as Captain Barbossa, who has moved over to the other side. He has taken a ship and crew from the dear British king and he too is aiming for the fountain of youth. This “Pirates” film includes all the action expected from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It keeps us on the edge of our seats, riveted to the storyline. With vicious mermaids, Silver chalice’s and mystic powers we all keep coming back for more.  But is this trend coming to an end?

Although I love the films dearly and have enjoyed the characters and storylines, I feel that Disney is becoming far too financially concerned and has forgotten about their quality ratings. In current news reports there are rumors that Disney has asked all cast members to keep their schedules open as Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer are planning to make a 5th and 6th film adding to the series collection. Johnny Depp has already agreed and says, “He is happy to play the part, his only condition is that the popularity of the films are kept in firm view.”

Barbossa, Angelica, Sparrow, Black-beard

Has Disney lost the plot? I honestly do not think so; if we look at other franchise collections such as Harry Potter we see good quality movies, with big budgets and big income. Although some people feel as though Disney has, in fact lost the plot, I disagree, I love the story and still love the characters, and the new characters are just as interesting and may become as lovable as Captain Sparrow.

Jack & Angelica

To conclude, Pirates of the Caribbean “On Stranger Tides” is an amazing film, it has the magic and interest expected and ensures we keep watching by spicing things up. A perfect movie to take the whole family to go and see.

My Rating 8/10
