It’s a new year and we are full of energy here at “The Spirit of Ecstasy.” To kick off the year I wanted to get rid of the old and bring in the new. Many companies around the world do this in hopes of gaining new customers and followers, and “Chrysler Dodge Jeep” are no exception. For this post I would like to focus on the New Jeep Wrangler fleet line of vehicles.
Let me begin by saying that in 2011 the Jeep Wrangler was voted the world’s best production 4×4 off-road vehicle and won numerous other off-road vehicle awards for Jeeps 4×4 ability and Jeeps Rubicon technology. So it might be hard to think that Jeep would be able improve on their amazing design…think again!
The all new 2012 Jeep Wrangler has been re-invented and improved visually as well as being made more efficient and powerful. Over all looking at the two Jeeps side by side you may not notice a difference, however open the hood and step a bit closer, and the intricate details come to life, proving that perhaps Jeep has made a better Wrangler than last time.
This new 2012 Jeep Wrangler has been pumped up and turned into a lean mean 4×4 machine. “Chrysler and Jeep” have put their best minds to work on this Wrangler and after truck loads of cash and many months of hard work they have created a more refined vehicle.
The 2012 Wrangler comes with the all new 3.6L V6 VVT Pentastar Engine, they have taken this engine and worked hard to make it achieve a 40% increase in power output, pushing the power up to 285 HP (210 KW), giving the Wrangler a much needed 26% speed increase. The Wrangler has also done all this and increased fuel efficiency by 10%, helping keep costs down.
Being a 4×4 it also had a 10% Torque increase pushing it up to a meaty 260 ft lb (353 Nm). Adding this new found power and efficiency with Jeeps legendary Rubicon technology and a new 6 speed manual transmission, Jeep seems to have created an unstoppable Wrangler.
The 2012 has also been kitted out a bit more than its predecessor, coming with heated leather seats, a full media and “Garmin” satellite navigation system and air-conditioner, all of which can be added or removed dependant on the model you choose. So a bit of luxury mixed with raw 4×4 power, what’s next?
To jump start their new Jeep Wrangler vehicle line, “Chrysler” has come up with 2 ingenious marketing strategies. Now I hate the word ‘synergy’ as much as the next human being, but none the less Chrysler and Jeep seem to be making it work.
By Pimped I mean that Jeep has taken the new Wrangler 2012 and tricked it out with the top of the line 4×4 and action equipment from “Mopar.” With additions like Rock Rails, Back light covers, Winches, Spot lights, and side rails. They have also added MW3 logos and design through out the vehicle.
The MW3 Wrangler has also been designed to look the part on the inside, with colour coded logo filled seats and dashboard display. The MW3 Wrangler is marketed at the die heart gamer as well as the hard core off road-er. Although this edition of the Wrangler is about $6000 more, it seems worth it if you have the extra cash, and love the game.
This MW3 Wrangler also comes with a cool advertising media campaign, apart from the car being, made to look the part, the “Call of Duty” game has also included the car into the game, meaning you can drive and use the car within the game, helping to promote its rugged ability. Jeep has also used clever electroluminescent technology to create giant billboards that change worlds, during the night and day, while advertising their new slogan
“The Toughest Vehicle in the World…Any World”
The idea behind the marketing plan is that this MW3 Wrangler is suited for “our” normal world as well as the “Call of Duty” world.
Although this sounds great, the fact that this feels more like a marketing ploy, rather than an actual car you need makes me feel a bit skeptical. You could just go for the standard Wrangler Rubicon for about $6000 less, and miss the limited edition. Its a bit of a toss up, another aspect that we need to look at is the fact that the second a MW4 game appears the MW3 Wrangler will be rendered irrelevant.
The second part of Chrysler Jeeps plan is to release a 2nd Limited edition Jeep Wrangler “The Arctic”. The Arctic Wrangler is also the new 2012 Wrangler but pumped up to suit the most adventurous off roader. With a cool facelift design, with logos and interiors with colour coded design, “The Arctic” leaves nothing to chance. This Limited edition comes with, Winch, Light covers, rock rails and HUGE “BigFoot” tires at a giant 37 Inches, with special side grip technology.
So the question of every ones mind is the price? How much for these limited edition Wranglers?
To wrap up and conclude, Chrysler and Jeep are on full attack this year to sell as many cars as possible and get the Jeep Wrangler into the minds of all vehicle owners every where. Looking over the vehicles offered I would have to take “The Arctic”, it comes with a fair amount of extras and hopefully will not date as fast as the MW3, to play it safe though, I would take the standard Rubicon and use the extra cash to customize it the way I like, adding extras that are useful to my off-roading needs.

About 5 or 6 months ago, I received my first Nikon DSLR camera (D5100), it was big black and beautiful. At the time it was daunting just to hold this piece of technology, let alone use it for its designed purpose. However after many hours of messing around and a few YouTube lessons later, I […]
